Det var tiden efter det store wallstreet krak i USA, og Chr. Olsen havde derfor problemer med at importere tilstrækkeligt mange Parker penne som han på det tidspunkt havde fået som agentur i Skandinavien. Løsningen på problemet blev et eget produktnavn Penol. Historierne bag navnet er mange, men to skiller sig ud. Den ene version går på at Chr. Olsen blev kaldt "penne Olsen" af sine venner, derfra var der ikke langt til Penol. Den anden version går på at det var telegram adressen "Parker Penol" en forkortelse af Parker Pen Olsen, dermed Penol. I perioden under og efter anden verdenskrig blev der fremstillet Parker fyldepenne på licens på fabrikken på Emdrupvej i København. Samtidig fandt man på at forbedre visse varianter af pennene og derfra var der ikke langt til at produktudvikle egne Penol produkter. Af de mest kendte kan nævnes Penol skolepen, Penol Q-pen, samt de lidt dyrere modeller som President, Ambasador og Senior. I midten af 60’erne blev fabrikken på Emdrupvej nedlagt, og produktionen af Penol fyldepenne blev afsluttet. Penol fokuserede nu på Penol 700 og Penol 300 mærke pennene som stadig fremstilles. I dag er de fortsat blandt de bedst sælgende Penol produkter. I slutningen af 60’erne lancerede Penol en serie børne tusser, hvorved grunden til det Penol står for i dag blev lagt. Hele produktionen af Penol produkter er i dag udlagt til leverandører over hele verden. Denne outsourcing blev foretaget i slutningen af 60’erne, og er siden blevet løbende udbygget. Kvalitet Ansvarlighed er et nøgleord, når vi udvikler og producerer vores produkter Penol er et dansk udviklet og dansk designet produkt. Produkterne er udviklet til det scandinaviske marked. I et moderne forbrugssamfund fokuseres der ofte på miljøbelastninger. Penol anvender f.eks udelukkende plantage træ i Penol farveblyanter, emballagerne er i stor udstrækning fremstillet af 100% genbrugspap. PVC afgiver giftige dampe ved afbrænding, dette ønsker Penol ikke at medvirke til, derfor fremstilles emballagerne af 100% genbrugspap, eller af PET. Penol’s børnetusser er forsynet med ventilerede hætter, og et bagstykke der ikke kan tages ud af tussen. Penol’s tusser er dermed markedets mest børnesikre – et forhold vi tillægger stor værdi. Derudover er tusserne forsynet med en stor tampon, hvilket giver større blækindhold, og dermed længere holdbarhed. Der anvendes kun kvalitetsblæk med god farvedækning – hvilket giver større glæde for børnene. Vision Penol A/S beskæftiger sig primært med udvikling og produktion af Penol skriveredskaber, markere og børnefarvelægningsprodukter. Penol A/S har et bredt kontaktnet til verdens førende fabrikker af skriveredskaber, og kan derfor også fremstille specielle produkter serier skræddersyet til enkelte kunders behov. History The Penol brand was established in 1928, it was in the period after the big depression in USA. The founder, Christian Olsen, therefore had problems with importing sufficient numbers of Parker pens, which, at the time, he was distributing throughout Scandinavia. The solution to the problem was to introduce his own brand, Penol. There are sevral background stories behind the brand name Penol, but two versions stand out. One is that Christian Olsen was nicknamed "pen Olsen" by his friends, and the brand Penol wasn't to far away from that. The other version states that the cable address was Parker Pen Olsen abbreviated to Parker Penol, thus Penol. During the second world war, and in the following years, Parker pens where manufactured under license at the factory placed at Emdrupvej in Copenhagen. During these years certain models of the Parker pens where enhanced, and it didn't take long before a full line of Penol pens where manufactured at the same factory. Among the well known Penol pens are products such as the Penol President, Penol Ambassador, Penol Senior, and the less expensive products Penol Q-pen and Penol School pen. In the mid 60's the factory at Emdrupvej was closed down, and the Penol brand was focused on the Penol 700 and Penol 300 marking pen series. These products are still among the best selling Penol products today. At the end of the 60's a kid's colouring product line was created, best known are the Penol 300 fibertip pens. These products, together with the Penol marking pens, are the core of the Penol brand today. The entire production of Penol products is now outsourced to leading manufacturers of writing instruments. The manufacturers are placed all over the world, primarily in South East Asia, and Europe. Quality: Responsibility is a keyword in development and production of Penol products Penol is a Danish developed and Danish designed product. The products are primarily developed for the Scandinavian markets. In a modern society, the environmental issues are often at the top of the agenda. Penol products reflect this. Penol pencils are made of government controlled replanted plantation wood. PVC, when burned, has a negative effect on the environment. As Penol do not wish to contribute to toxic emissions, Penol packaging is made from 100% recycled paper material, or from PET, a plastic material with almost no negative effects on the environment. All Penol marking pens are without xylene, most of the marking pens can be refilled with ink, and nibs can be replaced when they are worn out. Penol A/S are constantly developing their products in order to have a top quality product line with a minimum of environmental influence. Penol children's fibertip pens are manufactured with ventilated safety caps and welded backends that cannot be removed. The Penol children's products are among the most childproof products on the market - a position Penol constantly strives to improve. The Penol children's fibertip pens are fitted with a large ink reserve, with high quality ink. This provides the pen with long lasting excellent colouring capabilities - and therefore better value for the children.
